The City of North Bay has hired Jaclyn Bucik as its communications and strategic development officer.

Bucik has a decade of communications experience in the public sector, most recently as the community relations specialist at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital where she was responsible for corporate communications, branding, media relations and event management.

She holds a diploma in journalism from Humber College.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the City of North Bay at such an important time,” said Bucik in a statement.  “One of the things I am most looking forward to is connecting and meeting with residents, businesses and city employees, and working closely with them to build upon and strengthen the relationships that already exist.”

One of the findings in a recent Baylor University study of North Bay’s economic direction was that the city was severely lacking in communicating its plans and goals to residents.

Bucik will be responsible for shaping the city’s internal and external communications program.

She joins the city as the search continues for a new chief administrative officer and work is underway on a new strategic plan.

"This role facilitates council and staff’s commitment to enhance communication with our community,” said Mayor Al McDonald. “Jaclyn’s expertise in this area will assist and allow us to provide our citizens with timely information and enable our citizens to be better connected with city business and operations.”
