North Bay's growing aviation industry is being championed by federal MP Jay Aspin.

Aspin, representing Nipissing-Timiskaming, was leading Members of Parliament on a tour of companies at Aerospace Montreal this week.

The full-day trip on Aug. 21 was designed for parliamentarians to meet with leaders in the aerospace industry. On the agenda were meetings with Pratt & Whitney, Bombardier, Bell Helicopter, and L-3.

This was the second of three summer tours Aspin will undertake to seek opportunities for aerospace development in North Bay.

Aspin, vice-chair of the Parliamentary Aerospace Caucus, created the Aerospace Task Force in North Bay last spring. He's been working closely with local aerospace businesses in North Bay, Jack Garland Airport administration, the City of North Bay and the Canadore Aviation program to grow the aerospace presence in the area.
