The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC) announced $768,000 for five projects in the Nipissing District on Nov. 7.

Finance Minister Vic Fedeli, who is also the MPP for Nipissing, made the announcement during a visit to North Bay.

“The investments announced here today will help create a strong future in Nipissing by boosting economic growth, creating jobs and ensuring the North remains a great place to live and do business,” Fedeli said while speaking at the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce. “It’s one more way we’re making Ontario open for business.”

The list of projects includes:

  • $425,000 for H&M Enterprise to purchase equipment and expand its metal fabrication, machining and welding plant;
  • $128,322 for Odyssey Fluid Power to renovate a recently acquired commercial building and expand its drilling operations;
  • $92,427 for the Capitol Centre to install a specialized sound system in the performing arts facility in order to attract bigger acts and meet the needs of rental clients; and
  • $86,817 for Epiroc Canada Inc. to establish a research and development team to further develop and improve its products for the mining, oil and gas industries.

Fedeli also announced today that Discovery Routes will receive $36,000 in funding through the Rural Economic Development (RED) program towards a marketing strategy to promote the Voyageur Cycling Route on behalf of Ernie Hardeman, minister of agriculture, food and rural affairs.

“Northern and rural Ontario has been ignored for too long. We are making it a priority in this government,” said Hardeman in a release. “These investments will help create a strong future for our rural communities by boosting economic growth, creating jobs and ensuring they are great places to live and do business.”
