Air Canada flights between North Bay and Toronto will not resume until at least June.

The route was originally suspended from March 23 to April 30 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now the airline is extending that suspension – one of 160 routes impacted by the decision.

"We continue to adapt our schedule and capacity in response to COVD-19 and have postponed launches or extended the temporary suspension of several routes," Air Canada stated on its website.

At North Bay's Jack Garland Airport, the budget is expected to experience a major shortfall with the loss of Air Canada operations.

The airline is also suspending most international flights until June.

Air Transat and Sunwing Airlines Ltd. have both announced they are cancelling all trips until May 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air Canada said it is still operating repatriation flights for Canadians stuck abroad on three continents in collaboration with the Canadian government.
