The Timmins Chamber of Commerce is celebrating a milestone with the Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada as this year they achieved a 15-year recognition of maintaining accreditation status with the national association.

Additionally, Chamber CAO Keitha Robson was marked as a recipient of the Accredited Chamber Executive (ACE) Level 3 designation this year – the highest classification, joining only eight out of the 500 Chamber managers and leaders in the country.

Since 1967, the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada (CCEC) has set out with a vision to maintain a network of connected Chamber professionals equipped to lead successful Chambers and recognized for outstanding contributions to their business communities.

Their purpose has been to focus strategically on core chamber activities, uniform practices and policies across the national network, provide a standard for dependable governance procedures, and be a more substantial “voice of business” within respective communities along with an increased role in national and international policy advocacy for Chambers of Commerce across the nation. For the Timmins Chamber, that means acknowledging the efforts they have achieved in support of local business, and now having reached these two benchmarks, the organization could not be more proud.

“The Timmins Chamber has influenced meaningful policy changes throughout its 72-year operation and most recently in its 15 years as an accredited Chamber of Commerce. This designation provides our organization with the weight it needs to affect positive change and ensure that Timmins remains a great place to do business,” said Melanie Verreault, President of the Chamber. “Under her 23 years of leadership, it is only fitting that Keitha receives this certification for her proven efforts as the steward of our Chamber.”

Achieving and maintaining accredited status allows a Chamber to pursue lobbying efforts on behalf of their business supporters at both the provincial and federal stages. Through the rigorous application, each accredited Chamber must reapply for accreditation status every three years to ensure that the organization adheres to the high-level standards set out by the CCEC.
