J.L. Richards & Associates Ltd. appoints new manager of project delivery

Matt Weaver brings 14 years of experience to the role

SUDBURY – Oct. 19, 2021: J.L. Richards & Associates Ltd. (JLR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Weaver, P.Eng., PMP, FEC, to manager of project delivery. As the former manager of the Sudbury office, Weaver brings 14 years of electrical engineering and technical project management experience to the role, with 10 of those years being with JLR.

Over the years, Weaver has honed his skills in leading multidisciplinary industrial and commercial projects from the feasibility stage through to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. He works alongside JLR clients to define their needs and goals, and then provides the necessary scope, schedule, and cost oversight to ensure projects are completed according to client expectations.

Weaver is a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and Project Management Institute (PMI). He is an effective leader of large technical teams and is talented at solving complex management and technical challenges.

"It’s hard to leave the mechanical and electrical groups, but it’s the right time for a new challenge," says Weaver.

"I’ve been part of project delivery in some form since its infancy at JLR. This is an opportunity as manager of this group to bring cross-communication and better sharing of ideas throughout JLR."

President Saverio Parrotta is confident that Weaver’s approachable and collaborative management style will be an asset to project delivery and, ultimately, JLR.

"JLR is excited to have Matt managing the project delivery group. Matt brings proven success in managing people and delivering complex projects,” says Parrotta. "Having worked with Matt for many years, he’s a great choice to take the helm to manage the group. I’m excited to see what he will do with this new role.”

Weaver will be overseeing a robust team of multidisciplinary project managers, project coordinators, proposal coordinators, and project delivery support staff. He will work closely with Tracy O’Brien, JLR’s chief of project delivery, to advance JLR’s project delivery methodology.
