WestJet Encore takes off from Thunder Bay

Calgary-based WestJet announced Jan. 20 it will launch its Encore service of Q400 flights between Toronto and Thunder Bay, and Thunder Bay and Winnipeg this summer.

Starting June 27, the new routes are part of a larger expansion that will see additional flights in Western Canada to Fort McMurray, Kelowna and Vancouver.

WestJet is calling it the “most comprehensive schedule release” since the air carrier’s inception in 1996.

"The latest schedule reflects the varied needs of the many guests who choose WestJet,” said John Weatherill, director of network and schedule planning. "We have added inflight service and amenities for those guests travelling for business and additional flight frequency and convenient, non-stop service across all points of the network.”

This summer will see WestJet flights into European with routes to Dublin in mid-June and flights to Palm Springs, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix.
