Kenora MP and federal Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford delivered a $549,112 cheque for a new lighting system at the Red Lake Airport.

The money is specially earmarked for the installation of an omni-directional approach lighting system and replacement of the airfield lighting control panel.

Funding is coming through Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program.

"The Red Lake Airport is a vital gateway for local residents, businesses, trade and tourism,” said Rickford in a news release. “This investment will enhance safety for travellers and residents while supporting productivity and economic growth in the region."
