Ontario Northland introduces expanded bus service

Twenty communities have been added to system

Ontario Northland has introduced 20 new communities to its bus service in Northern Ontario.

Ontario Northland is expanding its bus service west across the North to include Espanola, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, White River and many communities in between.

Announced on Jan. 15, the expansion is designed to “make life easier for Northerners,” the company said in a news release.

“We’re adding over 750 kilometres and 20 communities to our system,” said Tracy MacPhee, the company’s director of passenger operations, in the release.

“We look forward to conveniently connecting passengers where they need to be, whether for medical appointments, school, travel or family visits.”

According to the schedule, eastbound departure times include:
White River................7:00 a.m.
Sault Ste. Marie........11:10 a.m.
Espanola...................2:10 p.m.
Sudbury.....................3:45 p.m.
North Bay..................5:25 p.m.

Westbound departure times include:
North Bay..................5:15 a.m.
Sudbury.....................7:10 a.m.
Espanola...................8:30 a.m.
Sault Ste. Marie........12:00 p.m.
White River................4:00 p.m.

Ontario Northland said 243,482 passengers travelled on the company’s motor coaches in 2017.

The company said the expansion was part of the province’s investment into intercommunity bus service in the North, which was announced in December.
