Barrie-based Near North Customs Brokers has acquired a pair of companies to expand its portfolio in western Canada.

Alliance Border Services of Delta, B.C., and ISL Customs Broker, a division of Island Shipping Ltd., of Nanaimo, B.C., were acquired within weeks of each other.

A member of the Manitoulin Group of Companies, Near North Customs Brokers provides customs brokerage, consulting services, and freight forwarding to customers from any point in the world.

The company has locations in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, in addition to Toronto, Edmonton, and New York.

“Customers of both Alliance Border Services and ISL can benefit not only from access to Near North Customs' portfolio of services, but also through easy access to the full suite of transportation and logistics services and global reach of Manitoulin Group of Companies, to which Near North Customs Brokers belongs,” said Dave Jupp, vice-president of sales for Near North Customs Brokers Inc., in an April 4 news release.
