The Manitoulin Group of Companies is expanding its presence in northwestern Quebec and Ontario with the acquisition of Martin Roy Transport of Rouyn-Noranda.
The deal was finalized July 18. The value of the acquisition was not included in a news release issued this week from Manitoulin.
Martin Roy, established in 1998, is a less than truckload (LTL) and full truckload motor carrier that hauls for any origin or destination in North America. The company operates terminals in Val-d’Or, Dorval, Timmins, Mississauga, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, and Thunder Bay.
“With a comparable terminal network footprint in many locations, there are significant opportunities to enhance our service in this important market,” said Manitoulin Transport president Jeff King in a statement.
Martin Roy, president of Martin Roy Transport, said joining Manitoulin “marks an exciting new chapter for our company.”
“Our companies share the same values on hard work and integrity, and we are confident this partnership will benefit our customers."
The Gore Bay-based Manitoulin Group operates an international portfolio of logistics-related companies that includes ground transportation, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and warehousing.
