Community film forum to be held in North Bay

A community forum has been orgainzed in North Bay on March 24 to get input on how to make the city more attractive to production companies.

North Bay keeping the momentum going on film and TV production.

The City of North Bay and its community partners are staging a Community Film Forum, March 24 at Canadore College.

The forum involves an overview of filming activity in the city during 2009, as well as talks on what residents should know about location scouting involved this emerging sector of the city's economy.

Fraser James of Technicolor Creative Services will speak on digital media and post-production. Malcolm McColloch, a Toronto-based film location manager will talk about filming on private property and what landowners should know about negotiating terms.

A community strategic planning session is scheduled for the afternoon.

The city said it has received an "influx of inquiries" from the film and television industry because of its proximity to Toronto, natural amenities and government financial incentives available.

The forum has been organized to get input and suggestions on how to improve North Bay's standing as a filming location.
