The Town of Chapleau is working on a branding and marketing plan to attract visitors to the region and promote economic development.

FedNor announced it would provide $45,000 towards the initiative, which was outlined as a priority by the Chapleau Economic Development Corp. in the community’s 2013 investment readiness assessment report.

The funding is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region.

The Chapleau EDC said the initiative’s areas of focus would include residential and labour force attraction efforts, and sector development in the areas of mining and tourism.
