The Sudbury Catalyst Fund is providing $250,000 to WaiveTheWait, a medical technology startup whose software helps busy medical clinics manage administrative tasks and communication with patients.

“We have been working with NORCAT for the past two years and their support has directly contributed to our rapid growth,” Tabassum Pasha, the company’s cofounder, said in an April 9 news release issued by the innovation centre.

“Their dedication, not only to our success but also to building a thriving innovation hub to support early-stage tech ventures, was critical in our decision to relocate our company to Sudbury.

“We are incredibly excited and grateful to have both the Sudbury Catalyst Fund and NORCAT as partners as we continue to expand across Canada and into the United States."

Cofounded by Pasha and Shreyansh Anand, WaiveTheWait provides a suite of solutions for health-care professionals.

The Automated Task Manager automates administrative tasks for physicians, including filling out medical forms, medical notes and reports; clinic-to-clinic communication; and multi-step patient communication.

The software can also triage documents, identifying patients, classifying documents and adding medical labels/titles with no staff intervention. The files can then be automatically sent to a doctor's inbox or added to a patient's chart.

With the Smart Waiting Room, patients can input relevant information prior to their appointment, and the software will alert them when it’s time to leave to arrive on time. The system accounts for the delay at the clinic, so patients arrive only when the clinic is ready to see them.

WaiveTheWait was the Judges’ Choice winner in NORCAT’s 2023 PITCH event in Sudbury.

The company is currently based in Kingston but has plans to relocate to Sudbury.

Launched in 2020, the Sudbury Catalyst Fund is administered by the Nickel Basin Federal Development Corporation, in collaboration with NORCAT, the City of Greater Sudbury, the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation and with financial support from FedNor.

Past fund recipients include FORTAI, iRegained, Verv Technologies, and CircuitIQ.
