Northern Chambers recognized at provincial awards ceremony

Representatives of the Thunder Bay, Sudbury and North Bay Chambers of Commerce all received awards during the annual event.

Northern Ontario’s Chambers of Commerce were well represented during the 2017 annual general meeting of the Chamber Executives of Ontario (CEO).

The CEO is the professional development association for the senior management staff, sales professionals, and events/marketing professionals of Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade in Ontario.

Charla Robinson, president of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, received the James Gordon Carnegie Memorial Award, which is bestowed on a CEO member who is recognized for excellence as a leader and mentor by their peers.

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, received the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Chair’s Award, which is given to a chamber/board that has demonstrated success in the areas of operations, member services, and/or community leadership.

Patti Carr, vice-president of policy and communications at the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce, received the Bernie Gillespie Memorial Award, which recognizes a chamber professional who demonstrates excellence in chamber management and outstanding commitment to the community through volunteer service.

The fourth award, Excellence in Advocacy, went to the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce.
