Fort Frances insurance broker acquired by B.C. firm

Westland Insurance Group has acquired Gillons' Insurance Brokers of Fort Frances.

The deal was finalized on Nov .2.

Surrey, B.C.-based Westland is calling this a "significant and substantial milestone" as it is their first acquisition in Ontario.

Founded in 1924, Gillons' has 11 locations and more than 90 employees in northwestern Ontario.

With Gillons' in the fold, Westland has more than 140 offices and 1,600 employees in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. The company has an expansion strategy to become a national insurance brokerage.
