Wallbridge hires V-P of mining

Frank Demers to help Sudbury junior miner reach “next level”

A former Sudbury mine boss has joined Wallbridge Mining to bring the Sudbury junior miner into the production phase at a revitalized gold project in Quebec.

Frank Demers is Wallbridge’s new vice-president of mining and projects.

Over his close to 20-year mining career, Demers was mine manager at Vale’s Totten Mine and Creighton Mine in Sudbury.

Most recently, he was general manager of KGHM International’s Sudbury operations.

"This is a pivotal time in the growth of Wallbridge, as we progress our Fenelon Gold Project in Quebec through a bulk sample, while at the same time we also advance our growth strategy both in Quebec and in Sudbury", Wallbridge president-CEO Marz Kord said in a statement.

A May 29 Wallbridge news release said Demers brings expertise in managing small and large mining operations with teams of engineers and operators as well as experience in developing business growth plans.

"The addition of Frank to our management team gives us the capacity to move forward aggressively, build upon our considerable assets, and move Wallbridge to the next level in the transition of our company to a sustainable producer,” added Kord.

“Frank's extensive experience will be invaluable as we explore opportunities for future growth. I look forward to working with Frank as we grow this company."

Wallbridge’s main project is its high-grade Fenelon Gold property.

A mine contractor has been hired with ore production on the former gold producing property slated to start in the third quarter of this year.

The 1,052-hectare Fenelon project is a former gold producing property in northwestern Quebec.

Wallbridge said it’s on the hunt to find other advance-staged projects to add to the project pipeline.

On its home turf in the Sudbury Basin, Wallbridge is partnering with Lonmin on a stable of nickel, copper and PGM projects, primarily focusing on its high-grade Parkin project.
