Gowest Gold has signed on North Bay mine builder Cementation Canada to allow for an underground bulk sample to be taken for an advanced exploration at its Bradshaw Gold Deposit.

Site preparation and construction of water treatment ponds will be finished by mid-April with work on a portal beginning immediately afterwards.

The company said it has ordered an ore-sorter from Steinert US, which is to be used to sharply reduce handling costs and increase gold grades of ore sent for processing. That unit will arrive during the middle of the year.

The Bradshaw deposit is part of the company’s North Timmins Gold Project on its 110-square-kilometre land package, northeast of Timmins and east of Glencore’s Kidd base metal mine.

The deposit has an indicated resource of 2.1 million tonnes grading 6.19 grams per tonne (g/t) and an inferred resource of 3.6 million tonnes grading 6.47 g/t.

Gowest is also announced the extension of an earlier announced non-binding letter of intent, reached on Jan. 23, with Northern Sun Mining Corporation to create a 50/50 joint venture corporation that will own and operate the Redstone processing mill.

Negotiations are said to be going smoothly but the parties need more time complete the due diligence process and complete the definitive documentation of the transaction, which should be completed in April.

“We are extremely pleased to have Cementation, with their wealth of mine development knowledge and focus on safety, as a key partner in developing Bradshaw, the next new mine in Timmins,” said company president Greg Romain in a March 3 press release.

Cementation president Roy Slack said his company is pleased to be partnering with Gowest. “It is an exciting mine development with substantial potential.”
