Six mining leaders to be celebrated in March

The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada will host its 2022 awards celebration in Toronto in March.

The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) will recognize six mining industry leaders during its 2022 awards celebration.

Now in their 44th year, the awards showcase exceptional leaders in the mineral exploration and mining industry.

This year's recipients include: 

  • Charlie Greig, who will receive the Bill Dennis Award for the discovery of the Saddle North gold-rich copper porphyry deposit and the Saddle South vein gold-silver zone in the Golden Triangle region of British Columbia.
  • Keith N. Spence, who will receive the Distinguished Service Award for more than two decades of dedication to PDAC, ongoing leadership in Canada's mineral exploration and mining industry, and his contribution to developing CIMVAL, a globally recognized code for mining valuation.
  • Colin Webster, who will receive the Skookum Jim Award for his ability to engage and establish trust with Indigenous communities on mineral projects.
  • Sabina Gold & Silver Corp., which will receive the Sustainability Award for its state-of-the-art caribou protection and social initiatives at the Back River gold project in the Kitikmeot region of southwest Nunavut.
  • Rio Tinto Exploration, which will receive the Thayer Lindsley Award for the 2017 discovery of the Winu copper-gold deposit in the Paterson Province of Western Australia.
  • Lundin Gold Corp., which will receive the Viola R. MacMillan Award for financing and developing Fruta del Norte, one of the first large scale mining projects in Ecuador.

Awards will be handed out at a gala dinner, which will be held during the PDAC convention in Toronto, scheduled for March 7-9.
