Sienna Resources takes a big chunk of Marathon

Vancouver junior miner claims 16,000 acres next to potential mine project

Sienna Resources loves talking up its new neighbour near Marathon.

In expanding its land position on the north shore of Lake Superior from 2,500 acres to 16,500 acres, the Vancouver base metal exploration outfit announced it has staked ground on four sides of Generation Mining’s Marathon Palladium Project.

In adding the extra acreage, Sienna boasts in a Feb. 18 news release that its Marathon North Platinum-Palladium Property makes them “one of the largest landholders in the Coldwell Complex,” directly bordering Generation Mining’s property.

Since landing in northwestern Ontario in January, Sienna has praised the exploration success of Generation Mining in celebrating its neighbour’s a 7.1-million ounce palladium deposit and its open pit potential.

Sienna has not yet announced any detailed exploration plans of its own for Marathon.

The company’s other projects include a lithium deposit in Nevada and a platinum-palladium project in southern Sweden.

“As palladium prices are right near all-time highs, this new acquisition gives Sienna two large size platinum-palladium projects with work programs simultaneously being planned,” said Sienna President Jason Gigliotti in a statement.

“Not only do we expect to commence operations on this new project in Ontario but we also anticipate drilling to start in the coming weeks on our Flagship Platinum-Palladium-Nickel Slättberg Project in Sweden, on which we are partnered with a NYSE mining company.

"Management anticipates that the coming months will be transformative in Sienna’s corporate growth trajectory. These are exciting times for Sienna’s management and shareholders.”
