With local tensions running high in Sudbury as a result of ongoing management restructuring at Vale Inco, rumors have begun to grow surrounding the potential departure of John Pollesel, Vale Inco's new president of Ontario operations – rumors which are false, according to company officials.

Cory McPhee, spokesperson for Vale Inco, has confirmed that the newly appointed Pollesel is still on the job, despite whatever word may be quietly travelling through industry circles.

Much of the industry anxiety surrounding shifts in top-level employment has arisen in the wake of two recent departures from Vale Inco's upper ranks.

Pollesel replaced outgoing Ontario operations president Fred Stanford, who was announced to no longer be with the company as of June 10. Pollesel had previously served as vice-president of sustainability and business services.

This was followed by the departure of Parviz Farsangi, executive vice-president and COO of Vale Inco, on June 25. Farsangi was hired by Vale in September 2007. No reasons were given for his departure.

Restructuring at Vale Inco is ongoing, and is due to be completed in the near future, according to company officials.
