Pure Gold Mining is finding extremely high grades of gold in areas of the mine scheduled for early production at its Red Lake Mine.

The Vancouver company is drilling both underground and on surface to further define gold mineralization in mine stopes scheduled for production in the near term, as well as evaluate some outlying areas on its 47-square-kilometre property where the mine has potential to expand.

Pure Gold said it's finding "bonanza" grades in the stopes, meaning more than 34 grams of gold per tonne.

One drill hole yielded 296.1 grams per tonne (g/t) over 4.9 metres, including 1,147.1 g/t over 1.2 metres.

The first gold pour at the mine is expected in December. The mine will employ 300 at the former Madsen Mine site, just southwest of the community of Red Lake.

At its Wedge Zone, about three kilometres southwest of the company's processing mill, surface drill program is being run. This zone is part of the same mineral system that hosts the mine. The gold system extends over a strike length of more than seven kilometres.

One hole yielded 66.3 g/t gold over 1.0 metre.

In a news release, Pure Gold said the drill holes from the exploration only confirm the continuity of high grade mineralization throughout the gold system.

The company said two surface rigs are expected to continue exploration and expansion drilling into 2021 with more than 30,000 metres planned. Underground drilling is expected to continue over the life of the mine.

“Over the last several months our exploration team has been intently working to achieve our objective of growing resources at our high grade discoveries, as well as infill and expansion of stopes that form part of our near-term mine plan,” said company-president Darin Labrenz in an Oct.27 statement.

“Today’s exploration results continue our success at Wedge where we are pushing well beyond the boundaries of our phase I mine plan, demonstrating the high grade nature and growth potential of our large gold system."
