The Northern Ontario Mining Showcase will expand to more than 90 Northern Ontario mining suppliers during the 2017 edition of the Prospectors and Developers Association (PDAC) of Canada conference.

The conference will take place March 5 to 8 in Toronto. The Northern Ontario Mining Showcase is led by the City of Temiskaming Shores in partnership with the communities of Cochrane, Hearst, Kapuskasing and newest partner, the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund.

“Temiskaming Shores is proud to lead the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase initiative to help create new opportunities for Northern Ontario communities and businesses,” said Temiskaming Shores Mayor Carman Kidd in a news release.

“I am thrilled that FedNor recognizes the importance of this project to ensure the success of our region.”

The project receives strong support from FedNor, which is helping Northern mining supply and service companies to expand their operations, create jobs and increase trade both domestically and internationally.

In 2016, the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase helped create 66 new jobs and 133 new partnerships, and produced $6.9 million in sales.
