An upcoming mining conference is being promoted by an Ottawa-based industry trade publication as a “must-attend event” by those interested in and connected with advancing resource development in Ontario.

Energy and Mines magazine is staging its 14th annual Ontario Critical Minerals Forum Nov. 18-19 in Toronto.

The two-day event offers a star-studded lineup of more than 60 speakers from the mining industry, First Nation and Indigenous finance, the financial sector, and energy and infrastructure.

Featured speakers from the mining industry include Glencore Canada Metals COO Peter Xavier, Wyloo Canada CEO Kristen Straub, and CEOs from other established and up-and-coming projects.

The magazine's event, not to be confused with any government ministry, has two prominent provincial cabinets scheduled to speak.

Energy and Mines Minister Stephen Lecce and Indigenous Affairs/First Nations Economic Reconciliation Minister Greg Rickford will deliver remarks from the government. The release said Rickford will stage a dedication session on advancing the Ring of Fire.

More than 400 attendees are anticipated to take in an agenda providing insight on Ontario’s critical minerals sector, tariffs, infrastructure readiness, the role of Indigenous investment in critical minerals projects and infrastructure, among other topics.

For mining companies, the release said, the event will provide timely updates on government funding programs, permitting reforms, and infrastructure planning. For First Nations, new models of Indigenous-led financing and project ownership will be showcased. And for investors and finance leaders, there will be new perspectives provided on de-risking strategies and unlocking capital, while government officials will provide direct engagement with everyone attending to forecast Ontario’s upcoming decade of industry growth.
