There are just a few days left to nominate candidates to the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame for 2024.
Nominators have until May 1 to contact a member or associate member organization about submitting a candidate’s name for induction. Nomination materials must be delivered for review by May 31.
The national organization recognizes those working in the sector who have, through their leadership and achievements, “shaped Canada’s global leadership in mining, embodied the important role mining plays in Canadian society, and inspired future generations into mining.”
“Canada’s mining industry is at the forefront of the world’s energy transition and Canada is well-positioned to lead the supply of future-facing minerals and metals. This generational opportunity will capitalize on our industry’s past successes,” Janice Zinck, chair of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, said in a news release.
“The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame celebrates the leadership that has built the mining sector into what it is today through current members and future inductees.”
Created in 1989, the Hall of Fame is a joint initiative of Canada’s leading industry organizations: The Northern Miner, the Mining Association of Canada, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. More than 200 people have been inducted since its inception.
The 2023 inductees — Jim Cooney, Alexander John Davidson, and Douglas Balfour Silver — will officially be inducted during the annual dinner and ceremony in Toronto on May 24, 2023.
