North Bay's Cementation has been recognized as one of Canada’s Safest Employers for 2016.

The gold award was presented to Cementation at the Canadian Occupational Safety Awards Gala, hosted by Canadian Occupational Safety and Thompson Reuter on October 24 in Toronto.

Cementation received Canada’s Safest Employers Gold award in the mining and natural resources category.

“We are very proud of our employees and their commitment to safety. At Cementation, the safety of our people is paramount and this recognition as one of Canada’s safest employers helps to reinforce this within our organization.” said Cementation president Roy Slack in a statement.

“This is the third consecutive year the company has been recognized as one of Canada’s safest employers,” said Ray Fortin, general manager of health and safety.

“We continually try to find ways to improve our safety programs to keep them up to date and effective. When it comes to performing the work, workers are empowered to make the right decisions. Receiving this external recognition confirms that Cementation is an industry leader in safety.”
