The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is inviting public comment on IAMGOLD’s proposed Côté Gold Mine Project near Gogama in northeastern Ontario.

The public can comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in the company’s environmental impact statement.

IAMGOLD has plans for an open-pit gold mine and on-site metal mill with an operational life of 15 years. The proposed mine is located 20 kilometres south of Gogama. Both the ore production and mill input capacity would be 60,000 tonnes per day.

The deadline for public comments is July 2.
