Explor Resources has started a 3,000-metre diamond drilling program on its Kidd Township property near Timmins.

The company is looking to further prove the mineralization from earlier exploration work that suggests zinc and copper in the area.

Explor’s Kidd properties are located in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt to the north, south, east and west of the open pit in Kidd Township, roughly 20 kilometres north of Timmins, and covering 2,805.20 hectares.

Explor’s flagship project is the Timmins Porcupine West project located in the Porcupine mining camp. Teck Resources Ltd. is currently conducting an exploration program as part of an earn-in agreement on the property.

An August 2016 mineral resource shows 213,000 ounces, grading 4.283 million tonnes at 1.55 grams per tonne gold, in the indicated category, and 77,000 ounces, grading 1.14 million tonnes at 2.09 grams per tonne gold, in the inferred category for the open pit.

For underground mineral resources, in the indicated category, it shows 396,000 ounces, grading 4.42 million tonnes at 2.79 grams per tonne gold, and 393,000 ounces, grading 5.185 million tonnes at 2.36 grams per tonne gold.
