The Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator held its inaugural conference in Toronto in 2022.

Keynote speakers have been confirmed for the second annual Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) conference, taking place in Toronto this November.

The conference, scheduled for November 14-15 at the Radisson Blu Downtown Toronto, brings together mining-industry stakeholders to discuss problems to the sector’s challenges.

Its host, MICA, is an offshoot of the Sudbury-based Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI).

On day one, participants will hear from session chair Valerie Maltais, director of ESG, community and government relations with Coeur Mining; Jim Keravala, CEO and chief architect of OffWorld AI; and Peggy Bell, executive director of Resource Becoming.

Day two will feature session chair Anthony Downs, senior technology and innovation leader with Wamboin Partners; Peter Bryant, energy and mining expert advisor with Clareo; and Lana Eagle, senior advisor and consultant with Lana Eagle Consulting.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the conference will feature panel discussions that feature a range of topics, including mining operator perspectives on innovation and commercialization of decarbonization, sustainability impact and ESG; mining operator perspectives on innovation and commercialization of AI, automation and robotics technologies; and unlocking business development for funded projects: revenue growth strategies for bootstrapped founders.

Launched in 2021, MICA is a pan-Canadian initiative designed to accelerate the development and commercialization of innovative technologies to make the mining sector more productive and sustainable.
