Women in Timmins working in trades and technology roles now have a new network dedicated to mentorship, support and career growth.
Women in Trades and Tech Timmins (WiTT) was launched June 19 in partnership with the Timmins Chamber of Commerce and the Timmins Construction Association.
“Membership in WiTT is open to all individuals working in trades and technology, from welders, electricians, and cooks to greenhouse technicians, digital operators, hairstylists, and child development practitioners,” the group’s web page says.
“If you’re working with your hands, solving problems, building systems — you belong here.”
A lifetime membership fee is set at $25, and some of the anticipated benefits for members include networking opportunities with industry professionals and peers; mentorship programs and career guidance; educational workshops and skills training; exclusive events and industry panels; and resources tailored to support their career journey.
The group is co-chaired by Ashley Richards-Gagnon, project manager at BGIS, and Joelle Charbonneau, owner of JTR & Custom Works.
