Ontario food producers who have come up with innovative ideas to save time, money or energy on their farms are being urged to submit their ideas to Carrot Cache to be eligible for the organization's Innovation Prize.

Carrot Cache is a small, Toronto-based foundation that funds co-operatives, local organic food initiatives and community food strategies in Ontario. In 18 years, Carrot Cache has granted more than $2.1 million to organizations and individuals.

It’s now seeking creative, low-cost and tried-and-tested solutions from food producers, which will then be considered for a $1,000 prize.

Winning ideas will be shared online on Carrot Cache’s social media pages, and during the 2021 Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) Conference, which will be held virtually Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, where attendees will have a chance to vote on their favourite projects.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Nov. 26 by 5 p.m. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 5.
