Stakeholders want to attract more winter tourism to the North by establishing the region as the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination.

Stakeholders in the Northern Ontario snowmobile industry will gather in Cochrane this week to share ideas on how to attract more snowmobile tourism to the North.

The summit is part of the Northeast Community Network’s plan to establish the region as the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination. It will be held Nov. 3-4 at Cochrane’s Polar Bear Habitat.

Organizers are welcoming riders, businesses, associations, communities, government and regional industry stakeholders to attend.

The two-day event will include guest speakers, panellists, facilitated roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities.

Special guests include Matt Ballard, president-CEO at Charleston Area Alliance and founding member of the Hattftfield & McKoy ATV tourism destination, and Yves Oullet, a travel writer at La Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec (FCMQ).

Funding for the summit comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and FedNor.
