Explorers Alliance Corp. has announced the discovery of a new zinc zone near the former Genex Mine near Timmins.
Following the new polymetallic discovery about 18 kilometres northwest of downtown Timmins, the company has begun a detailed evaluation of the area. The property is part of a larger group of properties subject to a 50-50 option and joint-venture agreement between Explorers and Falconbridge Ltd.
Explorers Alliance is compiling previous data and planning surface mapping, sampling and diamond drilling. Officials say the discovery of a new zinc zone may represent significant value.
The new zone may be continuous to the Aconda Lake zone, 200 metres along an area where trench samples returned values up to six per cent copper and 2.5 per cent zinc.
