The West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) is receiving $208,918 in funding for project initiatives.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MP and Secretary of State for Rural Development and FedNor Andy Mitchell recently announced the centre would be receiving the funding. Of the funding, $181,418 will support the development and maintenance of a regional integrated health network and the remaining $27,500 will enable the centre to hire a youth intern to help co-ordinate organizational development projects using information and communication technology.
This money will allow the WPSHC to purchase equipment and hire specialized staff needed to develop and maintain a regional integrated health network. It will connect nursing stations, First Nation communities, physicians’ clinics and other hospitals and health facilities in Northern Ontario. It will also enable health care professionals to access up-to-date results using the latest technologies and advanced software applications. A virtual communication system will allow a free flow of data between health-care providers working in various areas and in different settings of care. It will also provide easy upgrades without physically manipulating individual desktops and is expected to result in simpler troubleshooting when problems arise.
