Dianor Resources has submitted the paperwork to take a bulk sample at their Wawa diamond project.
The Val-d'Or junior miner has filed plans with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines to excavate up to 50,000 tonnes of diamond-bearing rock from two underground ramps on their Leadbetter property.
The program is to accumulate between 12,000 and 20,000 carats to determine diamond grade and pricing that can be used to appraise the project's feasibility.
In a March 2 release, the company said results from its recent drilling program has returned high diamond grades of up to 90 carats per hundred tonnes for commercial sized diamonds.
Their advanced stage Leadbetter project is located 12 kilometres north of Wawa.
