Two First Nation communities will have $1.6 million to put toward upgrades on water services in their community.
Red Rock First Nation and Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishnaabek First Nation will have $1,519,700 and $77,760 receptively for work on water intake lines. Red Rock community will install new intake lines. These lines connect the raw water to the water treatment plant. Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishnaabek First Nation will use its portion of funds to determine what alternatives they have in dealing with a crushed water intake line. Once a solution has been agreed upon, the department will provide further financial contributions.
The funding announcement was made by Robert D. Nault, minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
