Community First Credit Union has invested $50,000 into Algoma University's Essential Elements campaign, which aims to enhance research and student services at the university.
"Community First is proud to make our contribution of $50,000 to assist in the growth and diversification of Algoma University,” Gregory Peres, CEO of Community First Credit Union, said in a news release. “One of the primary goals of our Community Investment Program is to improve education and financial literacy. We believe our donation supports this goal by providing more educational opportunities within our community."
The Essential Elements campaign is in the process of raising $6 million for scholarships and bursaries to ensure access for all Algoma University students; research facilities and activities centred in the Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre; and support for fine arts and music education, centred in the new Fine Arts and Education Centre.
