Union Gas Ltd. is locating its new Northern Ontario planning and dispatching centre in North Bay, bringing 12 new jobs to the city. The new centre will be responsible for scheduling line locating, metre installation, emergency response and other field services that Union Gas provides in North Bay, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie, Orillia and surrounding areas, as well as assigning and dispatching work to local employees from these centres for completion. About $600,000 worth of renovations and technological upgrades are proceeding at the Union Gas building on Charles Street to make way for the centre's opening in September.
