The new academic year has got off to a roaring start for Northern College, with higher enrolment figures across the board.
The school's Haileybury campus in particular has been its fastest-growing campus, with 27.5 per cent increase over 2007.
This increase is a result of growing interest in its Instrumentation Engineering Technician program which saw a 37 per cent jump, and the Veterinary Assistant certificate program, whose enrolment has doubled.
Apprenticeship activity levels are also up at the Haileybury campus, with new Construction Craft Worker and Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Early Childhood Education apprenticeship programs contributing to the 158 per cent increase.
Other significant increases across the Northern College community include a 20 per cent growth at the Kirkland Lake campus' School of Welding Engineering Technology.
The Porcupine campus has been a focal point for trades growth, which have seen a 24 per cent increase over last year. Its Electrical Engineering Technician and Technology program has grown from 36 seats to 54.
