Several of Canada's top environmental scientists, along with experts from Russia, Finland, Norway and the United States will lend their expertise during Laurentian University's annual Sudbury Restoration Workshop. Presentations at the conference, which takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 20, will focus on environmental topics dealing with the impact of mining activity, climate change and biological recovery.

The morning session will focus on Sudbury and Russia during a workshop on mining in northern environments, and on the assessment of climate change. Afternoon sessions will feature the monitoring of long-term trends in damages to ecosystems in the United States Adirondack Lakes, in Ontario and in Killarney Lakes, as well as the Northern Lakes Recovery Study. About 300 people are expected to participate in the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Laurentian's Fraser Auditorium.
