Federal Industry Minister Tony Clement said the Jan. 30 budget is "good news" for the North.
Though no funding specifics for FedNor were announced, Clement said many of the highlights of the budget have "enhanced FedNor's budget" through the billions of dollars earmarked for a Community Adjustment Fund, an Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, the Build Canada fund and other monies for the forestry industry, highway four-laning, recreational facilities, and First Nations.
Clement said the Adjustment Fund will have an "immediate impact" for Northerners by creating jobs and helping those hardest hit by the recession.
