Timmins francophone post-sec schools to share space

With shovels barely in the ground, Collège Boréal's new Timmins campus is slated to get even bigger.

The $11.5-million, 50,000-square-foot project received a $3.5-million funding injection from the province to add another 15,000 square feet to accommodate l'Université de Hearst, a federated school of Laurentian University.

The move will assist in providing a more seamless transition between the two institutions, allowing college graduates to achieve university degrees in their chosen language. The new facility will allow for Boréal to quadruple its local enrolment from 100 to 450.

The new campus construction is slated to be complete in time for new students to march through its doors in September 2009.
