The Timmins Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Rob Galloway, of Galloway & galloway Executive Services as the new president for the new year.
Mr. Galloway will take the over for Marilyn Wood, of Mikro-Tek Inc. the former president, effective September 1, 2008. The chamber invites guests to listen to both the incoming and outgoing presidents, August 26 in the chamber board room, as they reflect on the past year and share the vision for the upcoming season. On the heels of this announcement came a pat on the back for the provincial government as the city received over $4 million in funding through the “Investing in Ontario Act.” The funds will enable upgrades and maintenance work to be done on roads, bridges, railways and other infrastructures that ship and receive products world-wide.
The Timmins Chamber of Commerce commended the government for heeding the recommendation of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce 2007 survey. It indicated 80 per cent of economic leaders believe infrastructure issues will become increasingly important for the province’s economy in the future. As well, a further 91 per cent of leaders surveyed in the report identified infrastructure as the most critical issue in securing Ontario’s economic prosperity with roads and transportation considered paramount.
