Businesses in the city have indicated to the chamber that the government must work quickly to develop strategies and programs to cope with the financial crisis, president Rob Galloway states.

This attitudes reflects the result of a recent online survey conducted by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, where 74 per cent of the 4,865 respondents said that a comprehensive stimulus package was needed to strengthen the economy.

The survey also found 58 per cent of respondents believe their profits will drop next year, and 35 per cent expect to have fewer employees.
The political crisis also factored into the survey, with 90 per cent saying they felt the political uncertainty was negatively affecting business while damaging Canada's international image.
