The Lake Superior Centre for Regenerative Medicine is publicly opening its doors April 23 to thank the supporters of the Thunder Bay tissue bank.
The centre, located in the ICR Discoveries building on Munro Street, has received more than $1 million in funding from government and independent agencies. They have formed development partnerships with the City of Thunder Bay and the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission.
"As RegenMed continues to grow, we will have the opportunity to employ and retain qualified personnel in Thunder Bay," said a RegenMed news release.
Also known as RegenMed, the centre is fully operational with its living donor program. Femoral heads from hip replacement surgery are recovered and sent to our facility for processing and distribution.
The institute is recruiting staff for their deceased donor program. Orientation begins in early May with advanced training to follow.
