According to a recent survey, a large percentage of small business owners in Thunder Bay say city councillors are not doing a good job pursuing economic development opportunities.

Those views were revealed in a recent Thunder Bay Ventures survey which showed about 74 per cent of small businesses in the city think councillors are not doing a good job and 68 per cent think councillors do not examine economic development opportunities prudently and efficiently.

In mid-May, Thunder Bay Ventures distributed 368 surveys to the city's approximately 1,100 small businesses, companies that employ one to 20 workers. About 85 business owners responded to the questionnaire by June 15.

The survey's findings also point out that 30 per cent of business owners have little confidence that the city's Portside waterfront development project will ever be completed. About 34 per cent think it will take more than six years to finish and another 29 per cent believe it will take between three and six years.
