Terrace Bay gets facelift

The first phase of a major downtown revitalization project that will generate about 30 jobs during the next five years is under way in Terrace Bay. The project it designed to increase tourism potential.


The first phase of a major downtown revitalization project that will generate about 30 jobs during the next five years is under way in Terrace Bay.

The project it designed to increase tourism potential. it includes renovations to Simcoe Plaza, restoring a canopy and constructing a complementary new structure, streetscaping and sidewalk improvements, landscaping, interpretative displays, improved lighting and new benches.

A lighthouse-themed lookout will also be constructed to draw the traveling public into the downtown retail area. This first phase also includes better directional signage to major attractions in the Terrace Bay area.

Under a separate initiative, the municipality is also receiving additional funding to complete a major water system upgrade. The upgrade will provide safer drinking water to more than 820 households.
