Tembec sells Smooth Rock Falls hydro assets

Smooth Rock Falls – Tembec has closed the sale of its Smooth Rock Falls hydro-electric generating assets to Gemini-SRF Power Corporation. Total compensation for the hydro assets, which have a capacity of approximately 7.4 megawatts, is $16.5 million.

Tembec closed its Malette pulp mill in 2006 which resulted in a loss of more than 200 jobs in the small community located 100 kilometres north of Timmins.

Gemini-SRF Power is a subsidiary of Gemini Power Corp., a privately-owned renewable power generation company based in Ontario.
