The Ontario government opened a 20-kilometre, four-lane stretch of Highway 69 to traffic, south of Sudbury.

It's the first section of four-lane highway to be completed in the new Sudbury-Parry Sound corridor. Construction began in 2005.

Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci called it a “milestone” for the citizen's CRASH 69 committee who worked to make “the dream of a safe, efficient four-lane Highway 69 a reality.”

This section of the highway cost $183 million to build.
