Sudbury contracting firm to develop plant reno business

Sudbury -based Ferus Industrial Contracting Ltd .

Sudbury-based Ferus Industrial Contracting Ltd. has received $233,820 from the province to establish a construction, repair and renovation business for industrial plants in Northern Ontario in the pulp and paper and mineral processing and smelting industries.

The business is expected to create 31 new jobs. Funding comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp.’s (NOHFC) Enterprise North Job Creation program.

“Thanks to NOHFC funding, Ferus Industrial Contracting has been able to expand business operations, which has created 28,000 hours of work last year and will create another 35,000 hours of work this year,” Ferus president Dan Boulard said in a news release. “This has helped us build a strong foundation to attract future clientele and create new job opportunities for many years to come.”

“By investing in viable small and medium-sized businesses, our government is focused on developing a strong private sector that will help bring new jobs and economic prosperity to the North,” Northern Development Minister Rick Bartolucci said in the release.
